‘Beef,’ ‘Past Lives’ receive multiple Golden Globe nominations

Several Asian American and Pacific Islander productions have received Golden Globe nominations this year.

Beef the Netflix series that dazzled viewers earlier this year received three nominations. The series was nominated for “Best Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television.” Ali Wong and Steven Yeun were nominated for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor respectively in the “Limited Series…” category.

Past Lives, an A24 film about two childhood friends Nora and Hae Sung who reconnect years after Nora’s family leaves South Korea, received five nominations: Best Motion Picture, Drama; Best Director, Motion Picture (Celine Song); Best Screenplay, Motion Picture (Celine Song); Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama (Greta Lee); and Best Picture, Non-English Language.

Korean American actor was nominated for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture for his performance in May December. The films Elemental, The Boy and the Heron and Suzume were nominated for Best Motion Picture, Animated.
