Man arrested for allegedly sending Vivek Ramaswamy death threats

Federal authorities have arrested a man from New Hampshire for allegedly sending Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy death threats.

According to The New York Times, prosecutors say Tyler Anderson, threatened to kill Ramaswamy and and attendees of a campaign event in Portsmouth. The 30-year-old from Dover allegedly made the threats as replies to automated texts he received about the campaign event.

Ramaswamy notified law enforcement about the threats but continued campaigning. According to CBS News, he made four stops across New Hampshire on Monday with tighter security.

The presidential candidate and businessmen later thanked local law enforcement.

“I’m grateful for the team around us, and I think they’ve done a great job and making sure that I’m kept safe,” he said to WBZ, according to CBS News.

Police say Anderson confessed to making the threats when they interviewed him. According to The New York Times, he was charged with one count of transmitting threats. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
