A man who had been out on parole for the killing of his mother has pleaded guilty in the anti-Asian assault on a Filipino American woman in New York, AM New York reported.
Brandon Elliot had spent two decades in prison for the murder of his mother when he screamed at his victim, “f*ck you, you don’t belong here.” That’s when prosecutors say he kicked a woman and knocked her to the ground. Then he stomped repeatedly on her head and body, 1010 WINS reported.
Elliot pleaded guilty to one count of assault as a hate crime and one count of criminal possession of a weapon. He reportedly threatened a Good Samaritan who tried to stop the attack with a knife before escaping. Police arrested him days later.
The victim suffered a fractured pelvis, forehead contusions, and contusions across her body.
“Brandon Elliot brutally and repeatedly assaulted a 65-year-old mother in a hate-fueled attack that shook our city,” said District Attorney Bragg in a statement. “Everyone deserves to be safe and know they belong here, regardless of who they are. Anyone who commits acts of violence driven by hate will be prosecuted. If you have been a victim or witness to a hate crime or bias incident, please call our Office at 212-335-3100.”
The incident happened in March 2021.
