Everything Everywhere All At Once’s Stephanie Hsu will be appearing in her first TV project as the solo lead, reports Coming Soon.
She’s been cast in Laid, a new series on Peacock that the streaming network describes as a “f**cked up rom-com where the answer to ‘Why can’t I find love, is there something wrong with me?”
The Hollywood Reporter reports Peacock greenlighted the series for a straight to series order. That means series creators Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna won’t have to create a pilot first and will have the freedom to produce an entire season of Laid.
Hsu’s credits are numerous. They include the films Joy Ride, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and The Fall Guy. Her streaming credits include The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
She will serve as executive producer of the program, according to TV Line, along with Khan, Mckenna, John Davis, John Fox, Jennifer Carreras, Marieke Hardy, Kirsty Fisher and Liz Watts.
Khan’s name may be familiar to fans because she also executive produced Fresh Off the Boat, Always Be My Maybe and Young Rock.
McKenna worked with Khan on Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23 and also Will & Grace and The Goldbergs.
Laid is a comedy where yes, there is something wrong. “The problem is definitely you.”
