Teenage baseball sensation Rintaro Sasaki has been linked with four different U.S. colleges and universities. The 17-year-old announced in October that he would play college ball in the U.S., forgoing the Nippon Professional Baseball draft.
According to a UCLA-focused Sports Illustrated blog, Sasaki is linked with the UCLA, Cal, Stanford and Vanderbilt.
Playing for a U.S. college also fast tracks Sasaki’s route to Major League Baseball. If he signs with a college, he will be eligible to enter thr MLB draft in 2027.
According to ESPN, Sasaki currently attends Hanamaki-Higashi High School, the same school Shohei Ohtani attended. At 6-feet, 250 pounds, he is known for his slugging ability. In high school, he hit a record 140 career home runs.
