Deadline has learned exclusively that Midori Francis is set to leave Grey’s Anatomy after the next season. Sources told Deadline that Francis is in negotiations to return for several episodes next season to wrap up her character’s storyline.
Francis has played Mike Yasuda, a surgical intern at Grey Sloan Memorial, for the past two seasons. Nellie Andreeva, the Deadline reporter who broke the story about Francis’ departure, said she’s hearing it was an “amicable decision.”
Andreeva wrote in her article, “Francis had been looking to branch out for the next step of her career and signed with WME earlier this year.”
Fans of Grey’s Anatomy are growing concerned for its future. According to CBR, the show will be operating on a smaller budget next season which could impact casting.
