An investigation is underway into a data breach impacting at least 11 million customers across the Jollibee brands, although other estimates put the number to be much higher.
Those brands not only include the popular Jollibee chain, but also the Jollibee Group which holds data for Red Ribbon, Panda Express, Yoshinoya, Burger King Philippines, Chowking, and Mang Inasal. reported ABS-CBN.
It’s important to know most of the data the hackers took came from Jollibee patrons.
“We take this matter seriously and have launched an investigation to better understand the scope of the incident,” Jollibee said in a statement to Gulf News. “We have implemented response protocols in addition to enhanced security measures to further protect data against threats.”
Deep Web Konek, a cyber security company, originally reported the breach on June 20 and said a cybercrime forum claims it has information from 32 million customers and 650 million records from Jollibee’s food delivery operations.
The information stolen includes names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of customers.
“Please be assured that we are continuously fortifying our defenses against future threats and remain committed to our priority of safeguarding customer data,” it said to Phil Star Global.
