Zach Edey is dealing with a minor ankle injury just days after making his professional debut in the NBA Summer League.
The former Purdue University player was picked 9th overall in the NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. He played his first game on July 8. Memphis Commercial Appeal reporter Damichael Cole said that Edey’s debut performance had several positive moments. He finished the night with 14 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks.
But now, Edey is dealing with ankle issues. Michael Grange, a contributor for the Canadian sports network Sportsnet, said he spoke with Edey on Friday, who told him he had a sore ankle.
According to USA Today, Edey’s ankle has forced him to miss three summer league games in a row. Fans will be hopeful he returns soon so he can build off of his July 8 performance.
