Nikki Haley to speak at GOP convention in apparent reversal

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is scheduled to speak at the GOP convention on Tuesday, reports NPR.

The decision comes less than a week after the former presidential contender said she would support Trump but would not attend the convention.

The Daily Beast reported that Haley had not been invited but that she “was fine with that,” a spokesperson was quoted as saying.

Haley irked Trump by staying in the race longer than he wanted despite being well short of the delegates she needed to win the nomination.

No reason was given for the reversal, but USA Today reports the reversal comes after the failed assassination attempt on Trump Saturday.

Haley served as a UN Ambassador in the Trump administration during his first term, but the two have clashed on significant policy issues. Last week she released all her delegates and told them it would be OK to vote for Trump.

Florida Gov Ron DeSantis also battled Trump during the primary and is also scheduled to speak this week in Milwaukee.
