15-year-old Alison Jillian Chao, was found Tuesday morning safe and sound outside ABC7’s office in Glendale near Los Angeles.
Chao was reported missing July 16 in Monterey Park.
She was riding a blue mountain bike from her father’s house around 5:30 p.m. on July 16 and was heading to her aunt’s house in San Gabriel less than four miles away.
When she didn’t arrive at her aunt’s house at around 9:30, Monterey Park Police began their search for her.
Chao’s family, along with community volunteers, have been distributing flyers in the area to aid in her search.
Over the past weekend, volunteers organized a coordinated effort, going door to door in the neighborhoods where she was last seen riding her bike.
Today, the girl was walking when someone in a car noticed that she was the missing minor and called the police, according to an ABC7 security guard.
“Monterey Park Police Department extends its appreciation to community members and the many local, state and federal partners for their assistance during the investigation,” the department said this morning.
