A $20,000 reward is being offered for information in the death of a Marine from California, ABC 10 reports.
Peter Chounthala, 42, was a Camp Pendleton Marine. According to KTLA, he was attacked by two men on May 28 in Bellflower, California, around 2 a.m. near Virginia Avenue and Artesia Boulevard. He was left in the street and then hit by a vehicle, eventually dying due to the injuries he sustained.
“It’s painful knowing that I’m a widow, but knowing that our son is without a father now makes it so much more painful to bear,” Jurina Chounthala, Peter’s wife, said at a press conference on Wednesday, per ABC News.
Jurina described her husband as the “best dad” to their son.
At the press conference, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Patricia Thomas said investigators believe that Chounthala was a victim of a senseless act of violence.
Chounthala’s wife encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
“Please come forward and help bring justice to a great human being, a good man,” she said, according to ABC News. “And hopefully we can have some closure.”
