Stanford University swimmer Torri Huske is having an unforgettable Olympic Games. With her most recent silver medal win in the 100-meter freestyle, Huske has now won three Olympic medals, and she’s only 21 years old.
Huske earned her silver medal on Wednesday night in Paris. She finished the race with a time of 52.29, CBS Sports reports. Her opponent Sarah Sjöström (Sweden) won the gold medal with a time of 52.16.
According to USA Today, Huske managed to win silver despite being in the first lane, a lane that is often deemed as a disadvantage by many swimmers.
“The thing that I really changed was my race plan, and I just really had to commit to it and trust it, which I think is sometimes hard,” Huske said per Yahoo Sports.
“In the semifinal, I went a little bit hard on my legs the first 25, so I knew I had to rein it back and just really trust that I could finish the race. And that’s what I did.”
During the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Huske won a bronze medal in the 4×100 meter mixed medley relay. Last Sunday, Huske won her first Olympic gold medal in the women’s 100-meter butterfly.
