DÌDI (弟弟) opens nationwide August 16th. New trailer released

Arguably the biggest Asian American film release of the year is coming to theaters nationwide August 16th. DÌDI (弟弟) from Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Sean Wang (Nai Nai and Wai Po) is currently playing in a select 47 theaters.

Starring Izaac Wang (Raya and the Red Dragon), Joan Chen (Twin Peaks) and Chang Li Hua (Nai Nai and Wai Po), DÌDI (弟弟) is the coming of age story of a young boy struggling in a multi-generational household while dealing with typical problems of adolescents including teen love.

In the clip below, grandma expresses fears that the world will be coming to an end after Chris comes home with a black eye.

DÌDI (弟弟) originally debut at Sundance to rave reviews. So far it has grossed a respectable $728,000 in limited release from Focus Pictures, reports Deadline. It expands to 150 theaters Friday.
