Riz Ahmed’s new comedy series set for Amazon Prime Video will now also feature Ritu Arya and Weruche Opia, Variety reports.
According to Deadline, the new series focuses on Shah Latif, played by Ahmed, who is on verge of landing his dream role-which promptly sees everything go sideways as he suddenly finds himself immersed in both an existential crisis and a bizarre conspiracy thriller.
Most recently, on Netflix, Arya was seen in The Umbrella Academy, for which she had been actively involved for three continuous seasons. With her already fruitful involvement in the sci-fi thriller Humans and the comedy-drama Feel Good, the British Indian has compiled an eclectic list of performances that have placed her both in comic and action roles.
Opia is a BAFTA-nominated actress from the Emmy-winning series I May Destroy You on HBO/BBC One, with appearances in The Jetty, High Desert, and Bad Education. The roles encompass both comedy, drama and action.
Ahmed is starring in the series, which he will also produce and write. Production is by Jax Media and Amazon MGM Studios in association with playwright and TV writer Dipika Guha.
“I’ve wanted to tell this story for a long time. It’s personal, bold, and a lot of fun. It feels so good to be writing and creating it now with this incredible team,” Ahmed said in a statement from Amazon Press.
Filming on the series is now underway in London.
