Donald Trump reposted a lewd comment on his social media website about Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday.
The comment was by a Truth Social media user below a picture of Harris and Trump’s 2016 Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton: “Funny how blowjobs impacted both their careers differently…”
The post was a reference to Mrs. Clinton’s husband, Bill Clinton, and the Monica Lewinsky scandal, as well as a right-wing claim that Ms. Harris slept her way to the top by dating Willie Brown, the former mayor of San Francisco who was speaker of the California State Assembly, in the mid-1990s.
It was the second time in 10 days that Mr. Trump used his account to post content attacking Ms. Harris sexually. Earlier this month, he reposted a video parody of Alanis Morissette’s 90s classic Ironic with sexualized lyrics about the Democratic nominee. According to the Daily Beast, Jason Miller, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, told them on Thursday that he had seen the social media post but had not discussed it with the president.
“I don’t know if the president even saw the comment that was on there or simply the picture,” said Miller.
The most recent post has been taken down.
The polls have shown that Harris has surged since replacing Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee, with most recent surveys showing that she leads Donald Trump.
Despite adjusting to the new race, Trump still muses about facing Biden, 81, in the Nov. 5 presidential election.
In a recent New York Times article, Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for the Trump campaign, complained about the paper and said that Mr. Trump, in his reposts about Ms. Harris, “rightfully calls to question her ability to be commander in chief.”
According to a jury verdict last year, Mr. Trump had sexually abused E. Jean Carroll in a dressing room in the mid-1990s before defaming her on Truth Social. The judge awarded Ms. Carroll $83.3 million for her continued attacks on social media this year.
