Green cards extended to 36 months for renewals

Immigration Services announced this week it extended the life of green cards an additional one year to 36 months.

It’s an acknowledgement that the agency is backlogged with processing renewal requests.

To get the extension, one must correctly file form I-90. Instructions on filing the form are available here.

Anyone with a pending form I-90 receipt that you would receive after filing the form, can present that receipt along with your expired green card as evidence of your continued eligibility to work.

Those who’ve misplaced their green cards, can get a replacement by reaching out to the USCIS Contact Center.
