The official trailer for Love Hurts, Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan’s upcoming action film produced by Universal Pictures and 87North, was released on Tuesday.
Love Hurts sees Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Finding ‘Ohana) as Marvin Gable, a friendly realtor with a dark past. Gable’s peaceful life in Milwaukee is suddenly uprooted when he receives a mysterious crimson envelope delivered by Rose (Ariana DeBose), his former partner-in-crime whom he left for dead. Gable is soon “thrust back into a world of ruthless hitmen,” sent by his crime lord brother Knuckles (Daniel Wu), which forces him to confront his buried past, as reported on by Entertainment Weekly.
In addition to DeBose (Wish, West Side Story) and Wu (American Born Chinese, Caught in Time), Love Hurts also stars former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch, Mustafa Shakir (Ghosted, Emancipation), and Sean Astin (Stranger Things, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the Kin. The film will also be the directorial feature debut of stunt coordinator Jonathan Eusebio (The Fall Guy, John Wick).
Love Hurts is produced by 87North’s Kelly McCormick (Violent Night, Nobody) and David Leitch (Bullet Train, Deadpool 2) alongside Guy Danella (Anguish, The Day), per Deadline. The film is written by Josh Stoddard (Warrior, Kaleidoscope), Luke Passmore (Archenemy, Slaughterhouse Rulez), and Matthew Murray (CloudStreet: Soaring the American West, What Makes a Family).
Love Hurts was previously titled With Love until Monday, per Deadline. The film’s release date remains unchanged and is set to hit theaters on Feb. 7, 2025.
