New Bruce Lee murals coming to Seattle’s Chinatown

Seattle’s Chinatown-International District is preparing to unveil two striking murals celebrating martial arts legend Bruce Lee. As reported by The Seattle Times, these 10-by-10-foot murals, created by Nooksack artist Louie Gong, will be installed on November 25, just two days before what would have been Lee’s 84th birthday.

According to KNKX, the murals, titled “The Journey Begins Here” and “One with Water,” blend traditional Coast Salish art with Bruce Lee’s imagery, reflecting Gong’s Native American and Asian heritage. Gong stated that the works aim to highlight Lee’s philosophies of self-discipline and cultural pride, bringing together the community through shared inspiration.

The murals will be installed at prominent locations along Maynard Avenue, including the Rex Apartments and the New Central Building. This project adds to a broader effort to celebrate Bruce Lee’s legacy as a global icon and a figure of enduring cultural significance.
