Renowned Filipina theater star Lea Salonga performed alongside the beloved cast of Sesame Street during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. As noted by GMA Network, Salonga delivered a heartfelt rendition of the classic song “Sing” with characters such as Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster, and Ernie, braving rainy weather to bring joy to the crowd.
Salonga expressed her excitement on Instagram, describing the experience as a personal highlight. According to ABS-CBN, she thanked the Sesame Street team for making the moment extra special, particularly for her child, Nic, who shared in the joy of the performance.
This performance adds to Salonga’s recent achievements, including the release of her holiday album Sounding Joy in November, featuring a collaboration with Clay Aiken. She was also honored with a Madame Tussauds wax figure, unveiled in September, and earned acclaim for her role in the Filipino adaptation of Franz Xaver Kroetz’s Request sa Radyo.
