Rep. Ro Khanna introduces bill to repeal TikTok ban

Ro Khanna, who represents California’s 17th district, has introduced the Repeal the TikTok Ban Act with Sen. Rand Paul. The partnership between the Democratic representative and Republican senator makes the bill bipartisan and bicameral.

The effort to save TikTok comes after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a ruling after the former Biden administration banned the social media app out of national security concerns.

Though TikTok went dark last Sunday, the app came back less than 24 hours later after President Donald Trump signed an executive order to keep it accessible for another 90 days.

“When the app went down temporarily because of the ban, I heard from a small business owner in Mississippi who saw their sales dramatically decline,” Khanna said in a statement. “It’s hurting ordinary people.”
