Arden Cho and Adeline Rudolph to lead K-pop thriller ‘Perfect Girl’

Arden Cho (Partner Track, Teen Wolf) and Adeline Rudolph (Hellboy: The Crooked Man, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) have been cast as the leads of Perfect Girl, an upcoming psychological thriller set amidst the competitive scene of K-pop, per Deadline and Variety.

Previously known as Unnie, Perfect Girl will be directed by Hong Won-ki (Urban Myths, Goedam) and will be produced by Scott Strauss’s Badlands.

“In addition to compelling scares and an authentic portrayal of K-pop, Director Hong envisions an elevated psychological thriller which demands actresses of Adeline and Arden’s caliber”, said Strauss. “After a long search, we’ve found the perfect leads for PERFECT GIRL.”

Described as a mix between Scream and Black Swan, Perfect Girl will be adapted from a 2023 Black List script written by Lynn Q. Yu.

Perfect Girl follows a brand-new K-Pop super group. The film’s premise reads as follows: “A group of girls have trained for years for only four spots, and the final cut is only a week away. The competition is off the charts. But when a talented and mysterious new girl is introduced at the last minute, things start to get strange — girls are being hunted and attacked one by one. Who is responsible for this carnage? But more importantly — who will make the final cut?”

Alongside Strauss, Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk (Greenland, Sicario) and Erica Lee (Monkey Man, Silent Night), Renegade Capital’s Andrew Schwartzberg (The Other Lamb, Donnybrook) and Jon Shiffman (Sanctuary, American Psycho), and Desert Bloom’s Jennice Lee (Ashfall, Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds) will also be serving as producers. K-pop artists Sunshine and Moonshine will also create the film’s original soundtrack.

Upgrade introduced Perfect Girl to buyers at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin last week, and CAA Media Finance will manage the film’s domestic rights.
