Ramy Youssef’s new animated sitcom, #1 Happy Family USA, is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on April 17.
The sitcom follows the Husseins, a Muslim-American family, as they navigate life in post 9/11 America.
Youssef, an award-winning comedian, actor, and director best known for his show Ramy on Hulu, warned that the show should not be seen as representation: “This is a show about capitalism. And I think when you watch the first couple of episodes, you’ll see that, but it is certainly not representative of Arabs or Muslims.”
The trailer was released on March 5 and has amassed nearly 10 million views.
