Authorities confirmed this weekend that a second victim had died in a deadly robbery at a convenience store in Accomac, VA north of Chesapeake.
The Shore Daily News reports deputies say the daughter of a store clerk has died along with her father from gunshot wounds.
Both Pradeep Patel,56, and his daughter Urmi, 24 were employees of the store.
Deputies arrested George Frazier Devon Wharton, 44, on charges of first-degree murder and use of a firearm.
“They come in the store, open the store and just start working and they just shot,” said store owner Paresh Patel who is related to both victims. “My cousin’s wife, she is struggling for right now,” he said to WBOC.
According to the New India Times, Pradeep and Urmi moved with her mother to the United States six years ago. They also have two other daughters, one living in Canada.
One frequent customer who learned of the killing while on her wait to church says she is stunned.
“They were sweet … always a hello, how are you?” Athena Farlow said. “This isn’t the Eastern Shore that I grew up on … this is more or less pure evil.”
Authorities have not determined a motive for the shooting.
