South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is under fire for appointing to her re-election committee a person described as a white supremacist by the Southern Poverty Law Center, according to Examiner.com.
Roan Garcia-Quintana is among those listed as one of her re-election co-chairs.
The Law Center wrote:
“Roan Garcia-Quintana, a director of the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens (CofCC), is closely tied to anti-immigrant organizations in the United States. Garcia-Quintana is a well-known leader in the CofCC, a group descended from the White Citizens Councils, which opposed desegregation of schools during the Civil Rights era.”
No comment so far from Haley, who is just the second Indian American governor in the country and was endorsed by the Tea Party Movement during her first run for Governor.
