Super Bowl caps spectacular week for Fil Am Her

Filipino American singer and Grammy winner Her performed on the biggest stage of her life Sunday, Super Bowl LIV and the massive worldwide television audience.

She performed America the Beautiful prior to the game just days after receiving a Golden Globe nomination for her music in the movie, Judas and the Black Messiah.

Her wrote the nominated song Fight for You with Tiara Thomas and produced the music with Dernst Emile II, according to the Manila Bulletin.

Her won Grammys for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Album in 2019.

“It is an honor to be nominated for a Golden Globe this year, but it is an even bigger honor to be the first Filipina to be nominated in this category!!! So happy and proud to be part of telling such an amazing story,” Her told GMA.

In an interview with ABC7 News, Her talked about her Golden Globe nominated song.

“The song was so fun to make, especially making something from that time the late ’60s, early ’70s is one of my favorite eras of music,” H.E.R. said. “You know the connection to what was happening then, what’s happening now, and what’s still happening unfortunately…and being from the Bay Area, I think these are all such cool things that show me I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing. The fact that I’m now nominated for a Golden Globe, it’s incredible you know. I never would have imagined making something like this. I’m just happy to be a part of it.”
