A Vietnamese restaurant in Sunnyvale, California, has been vandalized and left a note with a racial slur, KTVU reports.

Le Bon, known for its Hanoi-style cuisine, was vandalized on Sunday afternoon.

“The window, everything is just shattered right now,” said Charlie Tran, co-owner of Le Bon, told KTVU.

This was the first incident of vandalism the restaurant has experienced since it took over for Minh’s four years ago, according to SF Gate.

Tran called 911. Police told him to look for bullets, rock, or a brick. What he found instead was a note with a racial slur.

“Dirty (expletive), (a derogatory term for people of Asian descent), go back to your home,” the note said in red writing, according to KTVU.

Tran and his other co-owner Jeffrey Nguyen are both second-generation Vietnamese Americans who grew up in the South Bay. They said they were shocked by the note.

Santa Clara County Supervisor Otto Lee told KTVU he was surprised that the vandals left a racist note considering the diversity of the community.

“I was disgusted when I heard the news today,” Lee said. “This is absolutely not tolerable, unacceptable, and it’s mortifying to find out these types of incidents are still happening right here in Sunnyvale.”
