The FBI this week arrested Filipino American Kene Brian Lazo who they say participated in the January 6 Capitol insurrection.
According to court documents read by AsAmNews, Lazo faces charges of knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds or in a Capitol Building and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol Building.
Tips from the public tied a Facebook user with an account named “Fam Council” as one of the protesters who entered the Capitol on January 6. A photo posted showed one of the demonstrators with a helmet bearing a Rodbustars logo that investigators connected to Lazo and his wife, Jen Lazo.
Further search of the Fam Council Facebook page, which has since been deleted, identified Kene Brian Lazo as one of those participating in the insurrection, court records indicate.
The FBI identified him as the man seen in a photo inside the Capitol that day carrying a broom commonly used in the Philippines, a “walis tambo.”
According to the Virginian Pilot, authorities arrested him Friday at his home in Norfolk.
Cathy LaVoy, a neighbor, said she heard the commotion after her dog’s barking woke her up.
“It was terrifying,” she said.
Lavoy described Kene Lazo as unfriendly and anit-social.
