Sri Srinivasan has been sworn in to the second most powerful court in the nation, becoming the first South Asian American to sit on the federal bench, reports the Indian Express.
President Obama has described him as a “trailblazer.” He gives all the credit to his family and community.
“You all made it possible,” Srinivasan told a gathering of Indian Americans. “I am incredibly honored and humbled by the tremendous support you have given me,” he said.
Indian Ambassador to the US, Nirupama Rao, hosted a reception in Srinivasan honor, and said the judge “personified” the accomplishments of Indian Americans in the United States.
Srinivasan will sit on the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit.
