San Francisco Supervisor Gordon Mar is responding on Twitter after discovering homophobic flyers accusing him of being a pedophile and a communist.
“Someone decided to paste these flyers over our window signs in small businesses across the Sunset,” wrote Mar on Twitter. “This isn’t the first time I’ve been targeted with reactionary, ridiculous smears.”
A second flyer under the heading Gordon Mar screamed “No commies in the Sunset(Mar’s district) and “Free money to crackheads.”
AsAmNews reached out to both the San Francisco Police Department and Supervisor Gordon Mar, but did not hear back.
In a series of tweets, Mar wrote “This community is under attack thanks to an emboldened far-right and the politicians and candidates who stoke this bigotry and division, even in San Francisco.”
He pledged to continue to be a “voice for progress” and for “queer and trans equality, affordable housing, compassionate solutions to homelessness and for moving forward.”
Mar is up for reelection in November and is being opposed by two candidates who are critical of his opposition to the recent recall of San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin and three members of the San Francisco School Board.
Both candidates Leanana Louie and Joel Egardio reportedly condemned the flyers.
