Harry Shum Jr. joins the cast of “Grey’s Anatomy” for the show’s 19th season.
According to Deadline, Shum will play the fifth and final resident Daniel “Blue” Kwan. the five residents will join Grey Sloane Memorial Hospital after it was ordered to disband and rebuild its teaching program.
TV Line says that Kwan is a sharp-witted, impatient, and brilliant new surgical resident.
“Blue is generous by nature but competitive to a fault, naturally gifted, and used to winning at everything,” the official character description provided by ABC states. “A family crisis interfered with his career plans and now he’s got a lot to prove.”
Shum became a household name after playing Mike Chang on “Glee.” He also recently featured in the critically acclaimed film Everything Everywhere All at Once.
