Mindy Kaling will receive the Norman Lear Achievement Award from the Producers Guild of America for breaking TV boundaries.
According to The New York Daily News, the PGA will present Kaling with the award at the 34th Annual PGA awards show on February 25.
Women and Hollywood reports that the award recognizes producers for their body of work in television. Past recipients include Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Bridgerton”), Marta Kauffman (“Friends,” “Grace and Frankie”) and Amy Sherman-Palladino (“Gilmore Girls,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”).
“Comedy can break boundaries and push culture forward; Mindy Kaling‘s immense contributions to the television comedy landscape are prime examples of this truth,” PGA presidents Stephanie Allain and Donald De Line said in a statement Wednesday, according to amNY.
In a statement thanking the PGA, Kaling paid tribute to Norman Lear.
“It is such an honor to be asked to receive the Norman Lear Award, a prize named after the prolific and groundbreaking producer I am so inspired by,” Kaling said, according to The New York Daily News.
