Wes Anderson film with Stephen Park and Hong Chau headed to Cannes

Deadline has learned that a new Wes Anderson film called Asteroid City will likely debut at the Cannes Film Festival.

Stephen Park and Hong Chau will feature in the film. According to Collider, the film will be based around a Junior Stargazer convention set in a fictional American desert town in 1955.

The film’s cast will also feature Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jason Schwartzman, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan and Jeff Goldblum, Deadline reports.

Anderson is known for films like The Grand Budapest Hotel, Fantastic Mr. Fox and Moonrise Kingdom. He wrote Asteroid City with Roman Coppola, the son of renowned film director Francis Ford Coppola. Deadline reports that his regular collaborators Steven Rales and Jeremy Dawson will also help produce the film.

Asteroid City will be released on June 16, 2023.
