The only university in the United States devoted to educating students utilizing the principles of the Hindu faith has received the largest donation in its history.
The Hindu University of America in Florida received a $1 million dollar contribution from Indian American businessman Ramesh Bhutada, the Deccan Herald reported.
Ramesh Buhtada is the CEO of Houston-based Star Pipe Products. The company was established in 1979 with only one employee, and has now grown into a global manufacturer and supplier of pipe fittings and accessories, with over 1,400 employees in the United States, Canada, China and India.
Ramesh was born and raised in a traditional Hindu family. Despite getting in touch with numerous Hinduism organizations and traditions for many years, Ramesh acknowledged he still didn’t get the essence of Hinduism.
The university revealed in a release that Ramesh took 60 years to understand Hinduism, and how it teaches him to “live in a harmony within ourselves, with our family, friends, colleagues, and with the entire world”.
Bhutada hopes his donation will help the University offer more opportunities for young people to learn about Hinduism and its teaching of pursuing a satisfactory and happy life.
