Couple who helped Korean tourists in blizzard travel to South Korea

A group of South Korean tourists were reunited with the couple that saved them from a blizzard last Christmas in New York.

Alexander and Andrea Campagna housed a group of 10 South Korean tourists in their home near Buffalo, New York. The group had knocked on their door asking for help shoveling their van out of the snow. The Campagnas invited the tourists to stay, knowing it would not be safe for them to travel back outside.

According to The Guardian, the couple recently traveled to Seoul as part of a 10-day tour of the city that was organized to thank them for being Good Samaritans.

“It’s kind of a storybook situation that you could not have scripted,” Mr. Campagna, 40, said, in an interview with the New York Times.

The couple visited with government officials, gave interviews to local media outlets and filmed a promotional tourism video. According to The New York Times, they also reunited with six of the tourists they housed during the blizzard.

“To see everyone in Korea again is such a blessing,” Andrea Campagna told reporters, according to The Guardian. “They ended up in the right place at the right time. Now we have people we can call friends for a lifetime.”
