Tua Tagovailoa helped the Miami Dolphins to another victory during the second week of the NFL season.
The Dolphins faced the New England Patriots on Sunday evening, defeating the six-time Superbowl Champions 24-17.
Tagovailoa was 21 for 30 in completed passes, throwing 249 yards, one touchdown and one interception. During one drive just before halftime, he went 7 for 7 and threw 69 yards to earn the Dolphins a touchdown, FOX Sports reports.
The quarterback is now 5-0 against New England, but Patriots defensive lineman Deatrich Wise Jr couldn’t pinpoint what Tagovailoa does to best his team’s defense.
“He doesn’t do anything special,” Wise said, according to CBS Sports. “He’s a very good quarterback. Reads his reads. Today, he was getting the ball out a little faster and our rush wasn’t really getting there. That’s something that we do know, but we’ll definitely work hard to change that record.”
According to FOX Sports, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick made defensive adjustments to stop Tagovailoa. After the game, Tagovailo praised Belichick’s adjustments.
“I think they do a tremendous job with adjusting in game,” he said, according to FOX Sports. “And that’s really a big, big thing I would say for any Bill Belichick defense. … You can see one thing, and then if you hit an explosive or something happens on that, you can expect something to change.”
