Prime Video has set a premier date for “Expats,” a new series directed and produced by Golden Globe nominated director Lulu Wang. The show will premiere on January 26, 2024.
The series follows on three American expats living in Hong Kong: Margaret (Nicole Kidman), Hilary (Sarayu Blue), and Mercy (Ji-young Yoo). Their lives become intertwined after a family tragedy. According to a press release, the series will explore privilege as well as “what happens when the line between victimhood and culpability becomes blurred.”
The cast also features Brian Tee who plays Margaret’s husband Clarke, and Jack Huston, who plays Hilary’s husband David.
Wang serves as the show’s director, executive producer and writer. She is known for her films Posthumous and The Farewell.
According to a press release from Prime Video, the show’s penultimate episode will be screened at BFI’s London International Film Festival on October 9.
