The producers of the upcoming Spiderman spinoff, Silk: Spiderman Society, featuring Korean American heroine Cindy Moon reportedly asked their writers to stop writing this week.
The show’s writer’s room was set to beginning working in January but the writers were only back for a few weeks before being released to work on other projects. Showrunner The Walking Dead‘s Angela Kang and executive producers Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will continue to work on the program, reported The Ankler.
Sources said they are reworking the show to appeal to a more male audience, however Amazon Prime refused to confirm that.
That upset Dominic Mah of Nerds of Color who wrote he was rooting for Silk to be her own main character and not the stereotypical love interest or sidekick of a male counterpart.
Sources told The Ankler that they were already a number of episodes in the season before the strike began but did not resume even after the strike which the union called a labor violation.
The production is still set to premiere in late 2025 on Amazon Prime Video.
