President Joe Biden has appointed Omar Khan and Nimish Patel to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations.
The White House announced Khan’s and Patel’s appointments in a press release on Friday alongside seven other names.
According to the press release, Khan currently serves as Senior Vice President for State and Local Government Affairs at WSP, a major global consulting firm. He has over 20 years of experience in the public and private sector working on several different policy issues.
Khan has also worked at the White House before. He held several senior positions in the Obama administration, including Assistant United States Trade Representative for the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement at the White House, Director of Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations for the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force, and Director of Public Engagement at the Environmental Protection Agency.
Patel is currently the Chair of the Corporate and Securities Department at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, LLP. He previously worked as a CPA and a senior auditor for Deloitte.
Like Khan, Patel has also worked in the public sector. He served on the School Board of Education for the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, overseeing a $100 million operating budget and a $300 million capital expenditure budget.
