Comic in Trump Puerto Rico controversy also mocked Asians

Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe who’s under fire for calling Puerto Rico “a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean” at a Donald Trump rally has also made similar racist remarks about Asian Americans.

Fellow comic Peng Dang introduced Hinchliffe on stage in 2021 and was greeted by Hinchcliffe with racial slurs and other offensive language while mocking Peng’s supposed accent.

Dang posted a video of the incident on social media.

“One more time for filthy little f***ing c**k that was just here,” Hinchcliffe said after Peng wqlked off stage. “All you f***ing race traitors are hooping and hollowing. I was back there watching you puck in a f***ing bucket.”

Encouraged by the laughter from the audience, Hinchcliffe didn’t stop there, transitioning into a sing song exaggerated Asian accent.

“Oh we make gunpowder; Oh you want extra soy sauce. Oh, you borrow money from us,” he says to laughter. “You guys are just eating it.”

Hinchcliffe has defended his remarks telling the Independent that people “have no sense of humor.” Trump, who has been criticized for remaining largely silent about the controversy in the immediate aftermath of the remarks, is now trying to make amends to the Puerto Rican community.

“Yeah. I mean, I don’t know if it’s a big deal or not, but I don’t want anybody making nasty jokes or stupid jokes. Probably he shouldn’t have been there,” Trump told Fox News, according to CNN.

Harris quickly jumped into the fray. Her campaign released an ad referencing Hinchcliffe’s garbage remark and reminding voters of what Trump said in 2017 following a hurricane in Puerto Rico.

“I will never forget what Donald Trump did. He abandoned the island and offered nothing more than paper towels and insults,” a voiceover from Harris says.
