Four international students from the University of California, Berkeley are suing the Trump administration over a revoked visa.
According to NBC News Bay Area, Zhouer Chen is one month away from completing her master’s degree in architecture and already has a full-time job offer. But now, she may not be able to achieve either of those milestones.
Chen, along with three other Chinese international students, had her visa revoked earlier this month. The four students filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Friday.
“The terminations have occurred without any consistent rationale or legal justification and are entirely arbitrary,” the complaint states, according to SF Gate.
Berkeleyside reports that U.S. District Judge Susan Illston has temporarily blocked the termination of the visas. She issued a temporary restraining order that will prevent the Trump administration from arresting, detaining or deporting the students over the next fourteen days.
According to NBC News Bay Area, Chen was arrested in 2022 for a physical altercation with a friend. The arrest, however, did not result in any charges.
A hearing is scheduled for this Thursday, April 24.
