A group of mostly Filipino American students at the University of Pennsylvania were urged by Philippine Consul General Mario de Leon to become more engaged in their community, reports GMA.
The talk organized by the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Philippine Association was part of the campus’ observance of Filipino American History Month.
De Leon reminded the students that Filipino Americans are the second largest Asian group in the United States with a population of 3.4 million people.
“Continue to be proud Filipino Americans and elevate our presence,” he said. “Find your passion and be committed to making a genuine contribution. Live out your own stories!”
