The Congressional Gold Medal awarded to Japanese American vets who heroically fought for the United States in World War II goes on a seven city national tour beginning January 12. The Smithsonian says the seven cities are New Orleans, Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Chicago & Houston. After the tour it will be on permanent display at the National Museum of American History in Washington, DC. Additional materials will be available beginning January 12 including an iPad application, a website and additional curriculum at cgm.si.edu. The medal was awarded to the 100th battalion, the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and the Military Intelligence Service in November 2011.
