Online retailer Boxed is offering to pay for the college tuition of children of its employees, reports the Huffington Post.
“If you are the child of someone who works at Boxed, it’s not the lack of money that is going to prevent you from going to college,” CEO Chieh Huang said in Forbes. “We’re building a long term business and if you are along for the ride, we are going to invest in you.”
This is an incredible investment in its mostly warehouse employees, many who make $13 – $17 dollars an hour. The number of employees at Boxed has grown 20 percent since the beginning of the year, but still only has 100 employees.
Room and board is not included in the offer and currently only one employee has a child old enough to take advantage.
The offer could encourage employees to stay around long enough.
