Hey! All you Russell Wong fans! I recently had a short chat with the charming actor who’s worked with director Wayne Wang and actor Jet Li and asked him where we would be able to see him next.

“I shot a film, Lost in the Pacific coming out this winter. It’s China produced,” he said.

The futuristic science fiction thriller is described by IMDB as a “transoceanic flight with elite passengers on board an inaugural luxury, transoceanic flight that turns into a disaster.”

“There should be distribution in the States as well in China,” he added.

I touched lightly on the representation of Asian Americans in top roles in the entertainment industry. I said to him, “The industry has ways to go to recognize us Asian Americans,” in which he replied, “I know,” and this is coming from an actor of over three decades in the industry. Wong who has admitted he doesn’t like media interviews, declined to comment further.

In the thriller, Wong plays Gary Gao, the owner of Ocean Airlines. It also stars Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) and Yuqui Zhang. Vincent Zhao is the director.

Wong’s most recent television appearance was on NCIS New Orleans in February. He’s also worked on Light in The Darkroom and an HBO Asia mini-series in 2014, called Grace.

Lost In The Pacific is due out in China this December and will be available in 3D.
