Three Muslims and one Sikh from Brooklyn have sued American Airlines claiming they were kicked off a flight because of their appearance, reports the New York Daily News.

The men were flying from Toronto to New York last year when the incident occurred.

They were part of a group of six flying together. Two of the men switched seats with other passengers so they could all sit together. That raised the suspicions of the flight crew which asked four of them to leave, according to the suit.

“I thought it was an evacuation or something, so I didn’t think nothing of it, but then she told me to take my bags, and when I went back into the plane I saw I was the only one standing,” said one of the men, a fashion designer who asked to be identified only as W.H.

Other passengers seeing the commotion began to make racist comments and some clutched their children, said the men.

The men are asking for $6 million in damages.
