San Francisco’s Chinatown is one of the most densely populated neighborhoods in the country. It’s packed with tourists. It’s packed with residents. It’s packed wall to wall with crammed residences and businesses.

CCTV reports that several projects are in the works to expand and improve open space in Chinatown.

6,000 square feet of space is set for St. Mary’s Park which borders the edge of Chinatown and San Francisco’s Financial District.

“This extension will be the first open space created in Chinatown in 30 years, 40 years,” said Alan Low Commissioner of
San Francisco Recreation & Park Commission.

It’s one of five open space projects happening in Chinatown right now.

The projects are expected to be completed in the next three to five years.

You can read about some ofthe other projects planned on CCTV.
