Samoa has won the right to host the 2019 Pacific Games, the Olympics of the South Pacific, reports ABC Pacific Beat.
In a meeting with the Prime Minister of Samoa, Pacific Games Council President Vidhya Lakhan stated, “Samoa ticked all the boxes and came up with flying colors.”
Samoa had to show it had sufficient government backing, the available international sports facilities and the expertise to manage the competition.
After meeting with the Prime Minister Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi to sign the official hosting document, the PGC president ended his press statement with this pledge.
“The PGC will offer SASNOC all of the assistance and expertise we can to ensure they deliver another successful Pacific Games”.
According to Pacific Daily News, 22 countries and territories are slotted to compete in the 2019 Pacific Games.
