It’s finally happened, but not in the way most envisioned.
The new lead for Netflix’s Iron Fist is an Asian woman.
The South China Morning Post reports in the season finale for season 2, the Iron Fist is stolen from Danny Rand (Finn Jones) by his brother and ends up in the hands of Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick).
That’s fine with Rand who feels he has become power crazy for all the wrong reasons.
Henwick’s mother is Singaporean-Chinese and her father is British author Mark Henwick.
Does that mean Rand is an afterthought? According to Comicbook.com, the answer is no. An article there contains many spoilers so we won’t mention them here.
As you may remember, Asian Americans were highly critical of Iron Fist when it first debut on Netflix. Many felt the lead should have gone to an Asian.
