Perhaps about the only positive this morning for CNBC is that they didn’t confuse the photos of presidential candidates Andrew Yang and Tulsi Gabbard for each other.
Instead, the business network used a photo of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in place of Gabbard. For Yang, they substituted a photo of Redpoint Ventures founding partner Geoff Yang.
CBS Ben Mitchell has some fun with it, saying on Twitter he could confirm “this is not Andrew Yang. Nor is Tulsi Gabbard the same person as Sen Gillibrand.”
NBC would later apologize, according to Scott Santens who earlier had called out the same mistake.
The cable networks of NBC seem to have a mental block when it comes to Yang. The presidential candidate boycotted MSNBC after on several occasion it omitted him from its presidential coverage in favor of candidates who have been polling behind Yang. MSBBC and CNBC are both run and operated by NBC.
As for Gabbard, that’s a hard one to explain. Other than both Gillibrand and Gabbard having last names that begin with “G,” they have few other similarities physically.
Gabbard liked a tweet pointing out the mistake. Yang replied with laughing and crying emojis.
