After many recent crimes, Chinatown in San Francisco now has 18 security cameras to help ensure public safety, KTVU reports.

Chinatown Neighborhood Association chair Pius Lee, Supervisor Aaron Peskin, and San Francisco Mayor London Bree made the announcement on Thursday.

One of the crimes to spark this decision was just last month, when a San Francisco resident was attacked then robbed in the light of day.

The newly installed security cameras are a result of last month’s meeting concerning public safety in Chinatown, Kron4 reports.

In addition to the security cameras, San Franciso police will also increase their foot patrols.

Hopefully, these newly installed cameras will truly make an impact on the safety of Chinatown residents.
